It's easy to miss -- especially you're eager to enter the Art Museum and rush up the steps at the West Wing entrance. Besides, if you're not exactly looking for it, 'Social Consciousness' isn't the kind statue by Joseph Epstein that naturally grabs you.
It's not a typical Epstein, and this is all the more the pit because I'm a fan of the American artist's more traditional (ie once controversial) monumental work in London. This piece was installed at the Philadelphia Museum in 1955.
